A Poem A Day
So many writing challenges this year – so little time. I have been part of Writers Write for a couple of years now, and they have 12 Months 12 Poems or 12 Months 12 Short Story challenges each year. I have not been successful at completing the entire year for either, but I really want to be successful this year. I also found the Stafford Challenge, which is a challenge to write a poem a day for the entire year – wow – 350 poems in a year! (It didn’t begin on the 1st – it begins on the 15th.) I have written my first two poems of the year – so we’ll see if I am ready to go on the real date. It’s much easier when I am not leaving for the day job or the night class to complete writing on my own time. What a life. What a life of a writer – right? To just be able to write all day every day! Wow! I would love that!! And I realize that I am completely over-simplifying the lifestyle – but it remains the dream.
I saw an interview with Nicholas Sparks today – although I am not a fan of his work, I am in total awe of his discipline to write. Plus, he goes to sleep each night around 8 and wakes at 3 in the morning. INSANE! Wow… If I could wake up at 3, instead of falling asleep at 1, and write for 3 hours before the children wake that would be incredible! I wish I had his discipline!
